Castine’s Bastille Day Celebrations!

July 14

Welcome to Castine’s Annual Bastille Day Celebration on Monday, July 14th. We will celebrate the 236th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris, the start of the French Revolution. All Castine businesses will greet you displaying the French colors.

Castine has a unique tie to French culture—in fact, the town originated as a French outpost. The French first came in 1635 to build Fort Pentagöet. Though the land has changed hands many times, we still celebrate our French heritage each year.

Be sure to review the day’s full schedule on our calendar!

Court Street from Main to Green will be closed for both traffic and parking from noon until 9pm on the 14th of July for Castine’s celebration of Bastille Day.
